Shy copperband butterfly fish

Hi there, yesterday i purchased and added my new cbb to the tank. Normally i wouldn't have bought this fish but it is the best looking cbb ive seen. About three inches long, good colors and has a belly on him. So far hes been really skittish of me and hides when i walk up to the tank or he notices me, and thats where the issue is. Whenever I walk up to the tank to feed he goes and hides and just watches the food float past his face. He seems interested in blood worms and i saw him picking at some mysis shrimp that had fallen into the rockwork but this is not enough to feed a hungry fish. I know its only 24 hours later of owning the fish but i really dont want to lose such a pretty fish with a high survival rate. How long can I expect this to last? And i went to the store today to buy some clams but they were all out😕. Would a cbb be interested in half of an oyster?

Did the LFS say if/what prepared foods it was eating? Some CBBs will only eat pods and aiptasia anemones, at least for a while. He should be scanning the rocks looking for these.

You can try a frozen clam on the half shell, oyster in a shell, live blackworms, PE mysis, regular mysis and brine shrimp. However, some specimens are notorious for being finicky eaters.

The guy at the lfs said he was eating brine shrimp. When i was looking at the cbb the worker threw in some worms and the cbb did eat some. Before the light went off today i did notice the cbb picking and the rocks and sand bed. Tomorrow im going to run to a store i know will have fresh clams and give that a whirl.
