Erik13
I have a 80 gallon half cylinder thats 44 inches long by I think 28 inches front to back I was looking at the viparspectra 300w would one of them do good for a tank that size? Will mainly have Lps and soft coral and possibly a couple sps. Or would it be better to go with 2 of the 165's? Looking to spend under 300 on the lights Quote Link to comment
Clown79
You would probably get more spread with 2 unless you get 1 of the longer Chinese boxes. Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
If you mean 44" tall and 28" in radius on that half-cylinder, then I think you might want to consider a light with a smaller footprint but similar (narrow) lenses, like Kessil A360NE's. One *may* work, but I think you'll want 2 or even 3 if you plan to have corals on the bottom of a tank that deep. (I'm not sure that math adds up tho....44" * 28" on a half cube is something like 160 gallons. Can you post the tank's actual dimensions? A pic may help me.) Quote Link to comment
