Anemone with gaping mouth

I just picked up a BTA from my LFS today. He was fine at the store: he was attached to the basket and his mouth was closed. Tentacles inflated. Got him home and several hours later, I found him on the sandbed with his mouth gaping open and his tissue (?) exposed. I have another nem in the tank that I received unknowingly on a live rock. My tank is 2 months old, but my first nem is doing very well, which led me to purchase a BTA. Anyway, this BTA has me worried. Anyone know what he's doing? He started attaching to the rock while doing this, and he's still inflated.
