Gulls
Dear Members Am new to this forum and expect some support from you experts I currently have a nano aquarium and aspire to convert it to a reef. The display is a 16 inch cube. The sump is a three chamber sump with Chaetomorpha algae in the first chamber, DSB in the second and the return pump in the last chamber I am modifying the sump and have a separate section for the skimmer now. The skimmer takes the input from the display and relays the water to the sump in the chaeto chamber. I wanted some modification and your views on which would be a better proposition: 1. The DSB and chaeto alage in one section itself OR 2. Chaeto in a different chamber and DSB in a different chamber Please advice Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Remote deep sand beds are not commonly used ...at least not in nanos. A DSB is usually fine sand and cheato needs good flow so keeping them seperate is probably ideal. 1 Quote Link to comment
mcarroll
I would start the tank without anything down there but the skimmer. Add the other stuff later IF needed. It might never be needed. I'd have some sort of removable container to keep the sand in just in case you ever want to remove it. Quote Link to comment
Pod Your Reef
Depending on how you have your sump set up you'll more than likely get detritus built up on your macro algae which will just settle on your DSB. Quote Link to comment
