hitchhiking hydriods?

I have been experimenting with a small tank, 2 1/2 gallons, for dwarf seahorses.  In this tank during this time I have two nassarius snails and two hermit crabs.  I had an outbreak of hydroids (reason for experimenting before getting the seahorses) and want to clean out the whole tank and start new.

I read you can't freshwater dip them but they are live animals and I was going to put them back in my filter sump of display tank.

My question is if the hydroids would hitchhike on the snails and crabs?

hydroids can hitchhike on anything.  ive seen them on equipment, frags, snails and even on the surface of coral.
