JACOBJNY320
Hey, I want to start a 20 gallon saltwater tank and have been thinking of what fish to add to tank. I was thinking of adding 2 ocellaris clownfish, 1 firefish and a pajama cardinalfish. As for the clean up crew I was thinking of add 2 or 3 cleaner shrimp, 5 or 6 hermit crabs and 3 snails. is this too much of a bioload? Will the tank be too crowded? Will they get along or get aggressive? Are there any good soft corals that would do well in the tank and not spread too much? Quote Link to comment
seabass
Hey Jacob. Your fish stocking is a lot, but it could work. I don't tend to consider cleaner shrimp to be part of a cleanup crew. Although they will eat food that lands on the substrate (something that most fish won't). I'd probably just keep one shrimp. Hermit crabs are decent cleaners, but I keep them mostly for entertainment purposes. One or two (with some extra shells) would be fine. Most of our members rely mostly on snails to make up the bulk of our cleanup crews. You could easily keep a dozen or so snails (depending on the species). Quote Link to comment
