btreef
Hello I had a few biological filtration questions. My setup for Bio-filtration in my WB10: First Chamber: Filter sock and chemi-pure blue nano pack Second Chamber: Sponge Bag of carbon included with the WB Bio balls included with wb Bag of pieces of rock Sponge Third Chamber: Heater and return pump I plan to remove the black sand over the course of several water changes. Do I need the bag of carbon if I have the Chemi-pure? What can i remove that is unnecessary? Balls & sponges keep the rubble? Should I use floss instead of sock? System: Waterbox 10 Cube Neotherm Heater 50w Included return pump Hydor nano power head AI prime HD System is 5 weeks old and seems to be cycled 2 fish 3 hermits Feed flakes or pellets once daily. Water change 2 times a week for the last few weeks. 3 gallons per My first tank FYI! Thanks for your help folks! BT Quote Link to comment
Clown79
The biological filteration is your liverock. If using chemipure, there is no need for carbon, chemipure is carbon. The bag of rocks is bio media. Sponges and bioballs aren't often recommended. Bioballs if not cleaned can become an issue, sponges are never clean enough to not become a nutrient trap. Most commonly used in back chambers: filter floss replaced 2 times a week, carbon. Some like to add cheato with a light source, others use purigen, some add a small pod condo. Any changes you make, do it slowly, the tank is new. Quote Link to comment
