Frag Factory
So basically...  I've added 10 cerith snails and 10 astrea snails to my open top 6 gallon system (some snails are for my other system which I will move later)  In 2 days I've found 3 of them outside of the tank.  Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to stop this 😂  Thanks Quote Link to comment
Clown79
Ya it's normal, a lid or mesh lid will stop it. Quote Link to comment
hawkingcolorado
I have a new cleanup crew also. They are escaping all the time... Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
Dwarf ceriths, certain species of nerites, limpets and periwinkle. They all do it. Intertidal snails, is my guess. However, I do remember reading about a parasite that infects snails. It drives them up to the surface, so they will have higher chances of getting eaten by birds. The parasite needs birds for its next stage of development . I wonder if that's why you'll get about 20 out of 100 of those dwarf ceriths that do that, while the rest seem to stay put. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
