Recently got a red macro algae. Did not have a name it was a random replacement for an algae that was out of stock .imageproxy.php?img=&key=c50b0cddbe5b031b. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify it . It looks so pretty

Not sure.  Look at GCE site under red macro.

According to Russ Kronwetter this macro comes from Pacific waters and is variable in colors, depending on light subjected to.  In the case of Bortacladia (Red Grapes are collected between 60’-120’), when I get it from the divers it is a dark burgundy.  With brighter light it displays fire engine red then orange red, then yellow orange.  All to often, it is subjected to intense light and loses its berries and goes sexual.  IMO, Red Grapes do not look good under intense light.

Second picture shows volunteer Bortacladia on piping at water surface.  In a differrent tank, first picture shows volunteer Halymenia Dilatata at water surface.

Thank you for such an informative reply It wasn't on the lists . I mostly likely believe it to be a Pacific algae in origin . Just noticed how blurry those shots where . I took a better one

A species of Laurencia. Maybe Laurencia obtusa. They have variable coloring from brown, yellow, orange and red, something to keep in mind when looking for comparisons to match it to. The species have a good degree of variation too which makes it even harder.
