eanne05
Any ideas on what this is? Found growing on some of the rocks in a lake in northern ontario canada. Thanks Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
It’s actually a freshwater bryozoan, probably Pectinatella magnifica. They are very common in the southern U.S. they have been becoming more common further north, even Canada. I’m not sure if they are invasive to your area, or are just becoming more common. http://www.magma.ca/~syatabe/water_brains/water_brains.html 2 Quote Link to comment
RayWhisperer
I don’t know why all the text is blocked in blue. It started with the Latin name, assuming it was because of spelling, but don’t know why it continued all the way through. Or why it showed up when I posted. I assumed it would post normal. RayWhisperer
This is the article I read several years back. http://www.magma.ca/~syatabe/water_brains/water_brains.html Edit. I don’t know why it repasted the same article I linked above. I’ll try again. https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2017/08/Bryozoan-blob-creature-video-spd/ Quote Link to comment
