nuisance worm???

I took a look at my tank around 4 am (call me crazy) and saw a 1 inch red and white worm scurrying around the rocks trying to find a hiding place. Is it something that should be removed? If so, what is the best way? He looked smooth so I don't think he was a bristle worm. I currently only have hermits, snails and a gobie in the tank. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
