RobSpeed13
I've had aquariums for years. Probably 7-8 total lol. Now that im a Family man i've cut down to 1. A Innovative Marine 20G. Its currently running but I took it apart to install a new canopy built to match my custom stand. Equipment is as follows Siccee 1.0 Return Neotherm 75W Current EFlus 660gphx2 Smart Micro ATO 2.5G ATO Res Nanobox Tide Plus M(currently over the tank keeping my SPS frags alive and till my canopy retrofit is finished) Canopy Light ( T5 Retrofit Kit with 2 ATI Blue+ combined with a Hydra 26HD) Stand custom built. So tell me what you think so far. Have a full rack of SPS just sitting in the tank. Plan on removing my current live rock and replacing it with STAX or just drilling it all to fit the plugs as it is a good aquascape already. 3 Quote Link to comment

Always happy to be back and reefing. On a other note here is the Hydra 26HD mounted. This light is amazing and the combo of the LEDs and T5's is great. Corals i can tell are already loving it and running all channels at 50% acclimation mode for the next 4.5 weeks. 3 Quote Link to comment
VaporCountry
Love the stand, canopy, and light set up. You did a really nice job. How did you mount the canopy? I may be interested in doing this on a future build Quote Link to comment

The canopy is mounted to the stand using 3/4" steel square bars that are 3ft long. both ends are using 2" Bolts and nuts with washers on the inside of the wood side to hold it all together. Even with the weight of the canopy the steel bars don't bend and stay leveled. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
How is your nano reef doing these days @RobSpeed13? You built a really slick stand and lighting canopy for your IM20! I'd love to see how it all came together. 2 Quote Link to comment

I'd love to see how it all came together. i actually have a different build thread for it now. i recently moved and in the process transitioned the tank from a AIO to a full custom set up with sump. heres a link to my more up to date build thread. finally getting settled at my new location that i will actually be on the forums more often with updates. here are 2 photos from that link to give you a little taste of the new and improved IM20 lol. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
RobSpeed13
And here is a recent update. Finally cycling the tank 🙂 Quote Link to comment
RobSpeed13
latest sump update! Removed the skimmer and sold it. no looking back now on that choice haha. Now instead of a protein skimmer section its going to be a frag section. I have a Prime HD that should be at my house tomorrow afternoon. Going raise my shelf by 1" and possibly create a custom mount to hold it 1/2" under the dj strip. I have a hydra 26HD with T5 in the display so the plan is to use the same spectrum in the sump. so once my frags encrust on my plugs its a easy transition to the display. they will just have more par/flow once they hit the display. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Slick sump setup @RobSpeed13, it will be nice to have frag grow out space now! How are things going up top in the display tank these days? Quote Link to comment

How are things going up top in the display tank these days? 18 astrea snails, 10 red leg hermits. The clean up crew is a strong one haha. the first month everything was nice and smooth very minimal algae. Nice purple coralline algae is covering the rocks. Then boom out of no where the ugly stage hit. Not bad at all though as its being controlled. I won't have a FTS till its pretty haha. Only down side is i move in 2 weeks to a new place so that'll be fun, Says no one ever haha. 1 Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks
A hermit crab army! Best of luck with the move, that's no fun. Do you have to go far? At least it's just the crabs and snails to worry about! Quote Link to comment

At least it's just the crabs and snails to worry about! well i have 4 tiny fish lol. and a 8" rainbow bubble tip. but i only have to move like 10 miles so it will be a easy move. just dont like moving in general. i have 3 other tanks. my 20gal long will be set up at the new locations, ill make 10gallons of fresh saltwater to mix with transportation containers. so 50/50 old/new water when moving all the rocks and fish. then once i get to the new place i'll give my equipment a good cleaning before putting everything back in. i just dont like taking my tank apart as innovative marine discontinued the black series. if my tank breaks i have to have a different manufacture custom build it. been trying to find a spare 20gal black series with no luck so far. RobSpeed13
just a little photo to show what it looks like with the pumps turned off. sadly this doesn't show how much the colors stand out and last night my clowns finally learned to host it. Quote Link to comment
RobSpeed13
So I ordered a black AI Prime HD and they sent me a white one instead 😛 upload So next thing on the list was to figure out how to do this with the tank running. i didn't want to have to pull out my bubblers as those are for emergencies only. so i just put eggcrate over the frag section and the only running was my return, lights, and heater. upload When i went to lowes to pick up the screws and nuts i need to use for the back of the light i didn't purchase a bracket. Im a Aviation Mechanic so i figured i'll get creative when i get home. so sure enough i found a spare curtain hanger mount we arnt using and used that 🙂 upload upload My original labels said HYDRA and SKIMMER. so i changed them to HYDRA HD PRIME HD upload This is me just making sure everything is lining up just the way i wanted. upload Boom everything working again 100%!!!! I think the whole process took me 2 hours to make everything organized and do the installation from start to finish. upload So to help with PH swing, not that i really care about it, i figured ill run the Prime HD at the exact opposite schedule as my Hydra 26. upload 2 Quote Link to comment

Now i build landing gear systems for all 3 variants of the F-35. Took a break from the aviation world for 2 years and landed this job and its actually pretty awesome haha. 1 Quote Link to comment
