Olivas Reef Posted September 1, 2004 Share Posted September 1, 2004 my 10 gal reef is 2 months old. Everything sseams great, water parameters are good. All the lr is has coaline algae growing on it. However one piece of lr is brown and nothing is growing on it . It looks dead. In the pic its in the top left side. Any suggestions? Link to comment

EtOH_is_good Posted September 1, 2004 Share Posted September 1, 2004 good calcium levels and less direct light on the brown rock. it'll eventually come back. also try brushing the coralline algae spots to disperse the spores to seed new growth spots. Link to comment
Whitten Posted September 1, 2004 Share Posted September 1, 2004 I had about 2 lbs of rock that was devoid of life, and gave it to my friend. We'll after a stint where his tank developed a nasty green algae problem we broke it down, and low and behold a little less than a year later and the rock is crawling with life, and covered in coraline.
