Skimmer help

So I bought the Octo 1000 HOB and i'm having a couple problems.

 

1. When the water returns to the tank theres micro bubbles everywhere 

 

2. How do I get it to produce thick skimmate the cups been filling up to

fast and iv been tampering with it all day to try and find the perfect amount 

of air flow.

 

Any tips are greatly appreciated

Until the skimmer gets broke in it will be unpredictable at first.  (I have the 2000 HOB). The first time I turned mine on it overflowed on me a few times. Then when I glued some frags  the thing went crazy again and the cup overflowed.   

 

Some people soak it in vinegar and water but I find after a few runs it starts to calm down.  

 

Everyone has had the micro bubble issue it seems.  I don't care so much about seeing the bubbles as I do about when they hit the surface and break they spray salt everywhere.......Even with the foam filters.
