Mothi
I have the 2 x 13 watt Bright Kit and am amazed at the heat it generates. I have a thermometer that I point and press a button to get the temperature from any surface. The light bulbs are reading up to 200F and the ballasts are reading 120F highest. This is normal? Did I maybe wire it wrong to get such a high temperature? (This is my first diy light so no idea how things are supposed to be.) Yes, I do have a fan blowing over the bulb area and right now they are mounted in a temporary hood. It has open back and open front with fan in the back blowing towards the front. I need to make a clear cover for the tank, but the acrylic I have seems to warp... Is there a specific acryclic I can use that won't warp so easily? I can't cut glass so that is out. Link to comment
Simms142
have a glass shop cut some 1/8 inch standard glass the size you need. It wouldnt be more than 3 bucks or so around me. Also, i have heard lexan has a higher temp resistance, but will probably cost you more than glass at a home depot or lowes Link to comment
