Shrimp goby requirements

So I have a question...might be dumb but do all goby shrimp need a sand bed? Or some sand? My tank is BB...

imo I would say yes. The majority of what the pistol shrimp or goby shrimp does is build  borrows. They occupy there time building entrances and exists to there hide. IMO If there was no sand bed the pistol shrimp would have no hide, no purpose and would eventually stress out and die.
