Biocube questions, removing a baffle...

I am thinking about removing the second baffle so that chamber 2 & 3 become on large chamber. I have the intake media basket so it will direct flow into filter media... But I worry that to much water will bypass it. 

 

Big thing is I got a sicce syncra 1.0 pump to quiet it down, unfortunately it is a very tight fit in the current 3rd chamber and it is a PITA to get into and remove, more so it sits against the walls and thus will just cause noise.

 

Has anyone had success removing baffles from a biocube? Google search wasn't much help.
