After 12+ years of reef keeping I have decided to start my first tank thread.  This tank has had a slow start because I am currently in grad school so I have limited time and money to dedicate to it right now.  It's a work in progress that I hope will blossom into one of my prized tanks...  pictures coming soon

I've had a 29 gallon sumpless tank, 55 gallon refugium run tank, 75 gallon room divider, 65 gallon w/ a stand and canopy that I built, 14 biocube, and a 34 Deep Blue rimless frag tank that I won at MACNA 2013.

These are my current pictures of the tank.  It has a whopping one coral in it right now- a pink sacrophyton who has shriveled up in the last few days because of getting caught in the siphon hose and since I added carbon and did a water change on the same day.  (It's been my experience that sacrophytons shrivel up when you change carbon out.)

I was really lucky to find this stand on Craigslist.  It fits the tank perfectly and has plenty of space for the electronics and extra room for storage.

I am almost embarrassed to post my tank pictures right now because it's looking so bad... but hell, thats the progression some times.

I've been considering a couple of lights to turn one of the compartments in the back into a dedicated refugium.  Both lights seem like the will work.  I'm leaning more towards the second light because I think it will light provide more light coverage to the algae and grow it better.  Any thoughts?

My little tank has made some progress!

- added a Voretch MP10

- added a dedicated refugium "plant" light. 12 watts of well dispersed LEDs

- added 20 snails and hermits to help curb the algae

- and performed a couple 5 gallon water changes

Refugium "plant" light is working very well and was a steal at $20
