docshipwreck
Hello all, I recently got a small 1/4 inch ricordia on the big salt critters sale. It's tiny and came off the plug ( I thought it became a snack like my brain frag and it was a goner). Doing some maintenance this AM and I found it settled in a happy spot and apparently grew some. My dilemma is this, it settled in a depression on top of some rock that is part of the base of the rest of my LR. I cn possibly try to switch it out (the rock) so I could break it apart and not disturb. Is there anyway to get this guy to release to try to find a happier spot and be visible? Link to comment
drgibby
Ricordia in my experience dont like a lot of flow. I have heard of them letting go if you point a powerhead at them. Link to comment
Clown79
If it settled there, its happy there. They move when unhappy with the light and flow in their location Link to comment
ajmckay
Oddly I've never attempted to move rics... I'm sure there are youtube videos. Mushrooms I normally just use a razor and cut close to the base as possible then use some fishing line to carefully hold it down on a new rock (or some nylon mesh if I have it). I have seen a method though that I'm interested in trying that uses some small forceps to grab it at the base and then rock/twist it at which point the corallimorph lets go. 1/4" is probably too small to try that with though. Probably the easiest with such a small one is to just take a small chisel or something and chip off a little rock from under it. Link to comment
docshipwreck
I get thats where it settled and I understand that but its in a depression in the rock where you cant even see it unless youre standng over the tank. I guess maybe it will overgrow and want to move again. Maybe I can swap rocks and face it forwards..... Link to comment
