duganderson
I have this dark green/blackish stuff on my sandbed. It has a bit of a spiderweb appearance in spots but kinda just looks like green algae when you stir it off the sandbed. What is this? Any tips on what to do about it? see photo (sorry about poor quality) Link to comment
Clown79
Kinda looks like cyano. Cyano comes in many colours not just red. Sypohon it out, get more flow going in the area. Whats you nitrates and phos at? Do you vacuum your sand? How often is floss changed? Link to comment
duganderson
Yes, I vacuum sand bed and it is very shallow. Floss is changed every 4--6 days. Nitrates and phosphates should be within good range but have not checked super recently. Link to comment
Clown79
I would check your parameters. Link to comment
duganderson
When I check my parameters my Alk was low (5.7), nitrate was 0.0, phosphate with hannah was .037, Calc. was 420. --Doug Link to comment
jabudda
Looks like a cynao strain to me, I would siphon it out & then some. Then change carbon, add purigen & gfo. I also like to use Zeo Cynao Clean & increase the flow. Link to comment
Clown79
Thats very low alk. If you have corals that will start to effect them. Increase flow, syphon out the algae, change carbon every 2-3 weeks and rinse the bag weekly. Vacuum sand every water change, use media to reduce control phosphate. Your nitrates are probably 0 because the algae is absorbing it Link to comment
