SouthFlorida_Tron
So i got one of these beauties. Such a cool fish. He was added to a tank with a Hi-Fin Goby and pistol shrimp, who of course has not come out of its hole since the day the gramma was added... What i noticed was for 3 days the gramma would swim around or hover in the middle, and now, he seems to be a sand dweller just like the goby... in a hole, he built, under a rock... is this normal? Clown79
This is normal behaviour. They either choose homes in cavework or dig out homes for themselves. They do become territorial towards their area. Link to comment
SouthFlorida_Tron
ok cool. i didnt expect him to do that! Link to comment
Droy008
Yea, mine just picked a spot in the rockwork and that becane home. They will likely rarely, if ever see each other. Link to comment
SouthFlorida_Tron
Im more concerned that now they both know each other are there, and both will now never come out and about.... instead only poking heads out of the caves and thats it... Link to comment
RIP Sebastian
Im more concerned that now they both know each other are there, and both will now never come out and about.... instead only poking heads out of the caves and thats it... When I got my Gramma (who died of mysterious circumstances two days later), he was very elusive. I thought he had died in the night the day after I got him, but he erred out of his little cave eventually. As they get older, they gate bolder. I've had the pleasure of seeing Dawn (vlangel)'s tank in person, and KB, her Royal Gramma, is out and about all the time. He's also very fat. I don't think that has anything to do with his behavior, but if a fish could have rolls, you can bet he'd have them. Link to comment
Klaasebaas
This week I added 2 smaller Gramma loreto in my 100 ltr tank. Tank is mainly SPS and LPS coral. There is one other fish in the tank (Ecsine bicolor). The bigger Gramma immediately occupied a not-use hole under the watchpost of the Ecsine. Big fight for 3 minutes. Now more not-so-friendly neighbours.... Lot of musceling but no fights any more. During feeding no problems. Let see how it works out. Tank looks like firework with all colors. Will try to make some pictures tonight Link to comment

Klaasebaas
Still no problems. Added two Pajama Cardinalfishes (Sphaeramia nematoptera). No interference at all. Still in peace with the Ecsenius bicolor, however he/she is searching the limits... Trying to hijack the Gramma own-digged hole... Definitely male and femal Gramma. male is starting to seduce the female, however still no interests. Both are fairly young still. Link to comment
ry05coupe
I have the same gramma and Goby combo in my 20 gallon, along with a clown and a Yellow Clown Goby. I'd say they are both out 99% of the time now, but it did take a couple of weeks for the gramma to become very comfortable and start showing his personality. Link to comment
jesseatam
My gramma was my first fish, he immediately found a hole and a gap under my rockwork and went to town excavating himself a home for about a week. They get bolder over time as they get more comfortable and feel safer. Since I've added my clowns he seems to be more active since adjusting to their presence and movement around the tank, he definitely doesn't like them in his personal space though but he is pretty tolerant. He is quite curious and seems to be very aware and interested in about what happens outside the tank. Link to comment
