kgb Posted September 4, 2002 Share Posted September 4, 2002 ok first off what do corals eat and how do you feed small ones if the eat large objects like brine shrimp (i see small feather ones in lfs tanks like mm wide when spread out) also the lfs told me that i have to have 3 minerals like calcium and stuff like that in a sw tank ? is this a nesecary Link to comment
Strife Posted September 4, 2002 Share Posted September 4, 2002 it depends on what kind of corals you have, some are filter feeders and some also gets food and energy from symbiotic algea found in their tissue (Zooxanthellae). examples are, mushrooms, button polyps, and xenia... they can survice even if you dont feed them, as long as you provide enough light....but they do take foods such as microvert and phytoplankton. and some corals cannot survive without feeding them at all... tubastrea for example.. like i said, it depends on corals. figure out what kind of corals you want, then do reaserch on what they need Link to comment
