ToolboySA
Hi So looking to upgrade my RSM 130D lights to LEDGROUPBUY lumina 5.2 with Bluefish mini 1. Will 2 lumina 5.2 be enough for clams & sps or should I be looking at 3 2. Do I just need one set of 5 LDD drivers to run both Lumina 5.2 or do they need there own 5 per lumina 5.2 Link to comment
jedimasterben
Two is plenty, and you can use a single set of LDD to run two in series. Link to comment
ToolboySA
Awesome thanks jedimasterben What size meanwell power supply would you recommend? Link to comment
jedimasterben
I would recommend the Meanwell HLG-185H-48 or -48A Link to comment
ToolboySA
Sorry last question here in South Africa we are 220V does the bluefish power supply support 220v or only 110v Link to comment
jedimasterben
I am not sure, but it uses an American two prong transformer, so you might want to just replace it with another. Link to comment
Horerczy
The bluefish itself is DC powered so it should be as easy as swapping the wall wort from a 110vac input type to a 220vac input type with similar vdc output. Link to comment
Sherman
The bluefish power supply I think is universe. I bought one last month. I from Singapore. We using 240 vac. No problem using Link to comment
ToolboySA
jedimasterban if I can only get the Meanwell HLG-185H-48B will work? Link to comment
ToolboySA
the other one I can get is the Meanwell LRS-350-48 Link to comment
Cintax
The HLG-185H power supply has a few variants. The HLG-185H-48B variant is designed to drive LEDs directly as it has a dimming controller. I suspect that is not exactly what you want. I think the HLG-185H-48 and HLG-185H-48A are more in line with what you need. This a good choice because these power supplies are IP67 rated which means they have a high water resistance. The LRS-350-48 would definitely provide the power you need, but enclosed and encapsulated power supplies are not at all waterproof so you would need to provide a safe and dry location with adequate airflow for the cooling fans. This can be a challenge when using them for LEDs over an aquarium. Link to comment
ToolboySA
Thanks Sintax, power supply and drivers will go into the cupboard then, could put them in a vented box aswell for extra precaution Hopefully I can get a 200w or 250w as the 350w is probably overkill Link to comment
ToolboySA
So eventually landed up getting MW SE-350-48 cause all the previous options were out of stock I see it has V Adjust screw, which I assume is the same as what my old ELN-60-48P driver had. Do I have to turn down the voltage to a specific number like what I had to do with the old setup? Running 2 Lumia 5.2 in series, running on 5x 700ma LDD drivers Link to comment
jedimasterben
No, the ELN series has a voltage AND current adjustment, on this new power supply it is voltage only, and you don't have to touch it, the LEDs and LDD drivers will only pull the amount of power they need Link to comment
ToolboySA
Awesome, once again thank you jedimasterben for help and patience to my stupid questions Link to comment
ToolboySA
Okay so I need to hook the MW SE -350-48 to the coralux 5up On the power supply I've got V+ and V- On the the coralux I've go 2 screws marked V Does one take the V+ and the other the V- ? Link to comment
jedimasterben
No, both are positive. Hook the one labled 'G' to the negative terminal, and make sure that the negative of the controller is also tied in to the G of the board. Link to comment
