rottingsoul492
Can anyone tell me if the oceanic 82053 biocube protein skimmer will fit in the first chamber of a coral life 29 gallon biocube? Link to comment
Astinus
I Honestly don't know about that Skimmer. I am running a JBJ Protein skimmer in the back of my JBJ Nano (28 G) Problem is the collection cup gets in way of the Hood. I Went hood-less once we got an AI Prime LED. Now there isn't an issue with Collector Cup in the way. Here is 1 Website to look at for the Skimmer I have. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20710 Link to comment

That is where mine was before I swapped it out for a Tunze 9001 It makes more sence to put the skimmer in the first chamber so it will collect most of the gunk before it gets to the filter floss in the media basket right? If you have room for it in Chamber 1 there is no downside to it being there. The Tunze 9001 doesn't fit in chamber 1 so I don't have my skimmer there. Skimmers do remove nutrients from the water so they are useful. Unless you have another method of export or do very frequent water changes. Link to comment

StevieT
No. If you have the cash go with the 9001 in chamber two next to the media basket. The biocube skimmers are junk Link to comment
rottingsoul492
How about growing cheato in a fuge basket next to the media basket? Link to comment
StevieT
That is an option. Best option would be media basket and 9001 Second best is Media Basket and Fuge Basket or If you wanted a mid level skimmer with a fuge and save some cash Aquaticlife 115 in chamber one Media and Fuge basket in chamber two Link to comment

Would it actually put a noticeable drop in nitrates? Link to comment
StevieT
Personally I would go with 9001 Link to comment
