love my micro smart ATO

I upgraded the pump(s) and added a spinstream... i'm extremely happy with the setup.

I have it about half flow which is a little low, but my little blue line will hunker down if it's too high.

controller? don't think you can set it up as an ATO

I don't have one or probably need one.

don't put the xenia anywhere you don't want it to take over.. mine went nuts and I wound up throwing out 2 good sized rocks in my tank

tanks looking good.. congrats

Alright! So here's an update it's been awhile. So far everything I've added is doing fantastic and the tank has seen 0 casualties *Knock on Wood*.

Current stocking is as follows

Fish:
-1 Black Clowe
-1 Flasher Wrasse
-1 Firefish

CUC:
-3 Trochus Snails
-4 Hermits (2 red 2 Blue)
-2 Nassarius Snails

-1 carlett Shrimp.

Corals:
-Green Tip Hammer
-Red Acan Colony
-Green and Purple Blasto

-Pulsing Xenia

-Hollywood Stunner Chalice
-Trumpets
-Green Zoa's
-Green Lepastrea
-Mystic Sunset Montipora
-Warpaint Scolymia

To recap what has happened over the last 30 days, I never really got a diatom "bloom". Its been more like a very slow increase in diatoms over several weeks, but nothing major.

The Reef Octopus NS80 Skimmer has taken about 3 weeks to fully break in and has just recently starting pulling decent skimmate. There are a bit of micro bubbles with this skimmer, but installing a small piece of filter floss at the out flow has seemed to help reduce this significantly. I find myself running the skimmer for a few hours after feeding and leaving it off most of the time. It seems to pull skimmate after feeding and sit idle for most of the rest of the day anyway. Overall for $45 it seems to work okay.

I had a major power outage during a storm where a tree took out the power lines behind my house. Luckily I planned ahead and had purchased a Marine Deep Cycle battery and a 12V power converter and kept the tank running at full power for 8 hours until power was restored.

I will be getting an ATO very soon, and likely going to begin dosing. I am beginning to find myself doing more water changes to keep the Ca and dKH up.

Loving the AI prime, and this tank. I am looking forward to each and every day as this tank ages!

Looking great! I love the Aquascaping. Did you QT your fish before introducing them? I'm debating on setting up a QT tank but that means another 4-8 weeks before I can stick my tank

So its been quite some time since i last updated and alot has changed with this tank. I lost 3 fish to a bad ich outbreak awhile back, i let the tank sit fish less for 2 months before adding anything else. I also lost a montipora frag and a stylo frag that never seemed to do well. All my LPS corals are doing great. I upgraded the stock pump to a sicce 1.5 i also added a jaebo pp4 wavemaker and a smaller 5 gallon pump and hooked them both up to a sicce wave surfer controller whoch alternates the pumps back and fowarth to create random flow. I ran into a small cyano ourbreak a few weeks back and treated it right away all of it was gone within 3 days. Im now running chemipure blue in a custom media caddy and i took out the reef octopus ns80 protein skimmer. It did work, but created more micro bubbles than i thought it was doing good for the tank so ive opted for weekly 20% waterchanges instead. I also have had a Crocea clam for about a month now and have been doaing 2 part daily for about 3 months to keep up with calcium and alkalinity demands. I also atarted using a Tunze Osomolator Nano ATO which has been by far one of my best purchases yet. Ill be looking to add an auto doser in the next few months so ill keep you guys updated on what I end up with there. Overall i am thrilled with how the tank is coming along, its now 5.5 months old. Still no coraline growth yet, but im hoping very soon!

If you have any questions or want to see a close up of specific corals let me know!
