fishfreak0114
I have a bc29 and I've been reconsidering the final stocking options. I was planning on adding a tailspot blenny and a royal gramma, but I've just started thinking that bangaii cardinal might be nice. Could I add a bangaii and a tailspot or would that be too much? Currently the tanks fish are: 2 occys 1 flame angel 1 GCG I don't run a skimmer, although I'd like too, I have an intank media and fuge basket. Bi-weekly wc's of 16l. Thanks Link to comment
Nanomaniac
With your potential new additions you would be at the absolute maximum bio-load for a tank of this size in my opinion. Don't overfeed and keep up on frequent water changes. Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Thanks for the rely nanomaniac would one option be best? All the combos I can think of are 1. Tailspot and gramma 2. Tailspot and Bangaii 3. Bangaii pair 4. Just one Bangaii Link to comment
jamescstein
banghi's just sit there.. tailspot is a more interesting fish to watch Link to comment
fishfreak0114
If I got a protein skimmer to help manage the bio load could I add a tailspot and a bangaii? Does a Bangaii have around the same bio load as a royal gramma? I really like the way that bangaiis swim. They remind me of some freshwater tetras in that way. Link to comment
RaquelAceraa
I just pulled up a pic of a tailspot blenny. Wow! Hands down I would pick that. Where would you get one. I never seen them for sale. Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I've really been struggling to get one. Last August I had a royal gramma and a tailspot in QT, but they both got ich bad and died during hypo . A petstore had both of them on hold for me about a month ago, but the day before I was going to pick them up I got a call saying they were both MIA. I really do love tailspots, when I had the one for a little bit it was a real personality. I'd definitely like one. Maybe I'll get the blenny (if I can find one!) and a Bangaii. I think the tank can handle the bio load. I already way ovefeed frozen when I'm feeding corals, and the current fish can't eat it all so I don't think I would be adding any more food to the tank than I do now. Does that mean that I'm not adding much bio load? I thought I read somewhere that the bioload really depends on what you put in because the fish can only poop out the amount that's put in. Is that true? Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Hm.. I would say your stocking is pretty much maxed already. I had a standard 29 with a sump and had three fish (2 clowns, and a coral beauty angel). I ran a skimmer 24/7. Five fish is a lot for a 29gal.. three is a good number. However, if you are still going to get either the tailspin or the cardinal- go with the tailspot. I have a bangaii cardinal and it just floats in the same spot all day. Someone told me that they may be more nocturnal which makes sense since I see him swimming around when lights are about to turn off. Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Thanks Elizabeth. I didn't know that bangaiis leaned towards nocturnal. I was considering a Bangaii because I figured it would be in the open more than a gramma. And I actually see them for sale sometimes. I guess I'll see what comes up at the fish store, tailspot or Bangaii Link to comment

jamescstein
You could also ask your LFS to order you one. My LFS will try and get any fish I ask him for. Link to comment

My LFS will try and get any fish I ask him for.The nearest LFS is an hour and a half away, and I know it'd be expensive, but there's a lady about 2 hours away from me who is trying to get one in for me. She just has a few tanks in a converted shed but her livestock quality is good. Hopefully she gets one soon because my QT has been set up for months. Link to comment
