printerdown01 Posted September 1, 2002 Share Posted September 1, 2002 27W is plenty of light for a 7 gallon... Not all of the 7 gallons is actually lit... About 2 gallons of it is in the back compartment (totally guessing here at the number of gallons in the back of the tank). This has been enough for small clams in many Alifes! Sorry, I have no idea how to mod the hood to do a back pack skimmer... Link to comment

NaNO ReeFiN Posted September 2, 2002 Share Posted September 2, 2002 The tank is 7 gallons but because of the back sump, it's actually 6 gallons in the main tank, so you have 27watts over 6 gallons. There is no possible way of adding a skimmer to the tank unless you modify the hood, and I mean MODIFY! You would have to tear that hood apart... which IMO isn't worth it. Link to comment
