z3speed4me
Hi everyone! I have been reading and lurking for ages, and decided to finally take the plunge into a salt aquarium. Until now, I have kept fresh-water cichlids for years.I recently purchased a used JBJ 28 cube and basically gutted it, purchases include: Rapid LED kit inTank Media Basket Cobalt 1200 Pumps Jager 100q heater jbj skimmer that I pray will actually workI am starting with base rock as I have boxes of it left over from my recent cichlid tank build but I did use Special Grade Live Sand with some Dr. Tim's bacteria (does it do anything??) and one piece of live rock I was given to help kickstart everything. I have never had a salt aquarium so I really want to watch absolutely everything grow from scratch! I will be re-doing some of the rock later, I want to have some more open space up front on the bottom. Tank was filled and (wait)cycle started on the 21st, but I think I saw my first signs of diatoms this morning. I'll be testing parameters when I get home from work. On saturday we had: Water at 1.024 PH 8.1 Ammonia 2.0ppm Nitrite 0.5ppm Nitrate 0.0ppm Phosphate 0.25ppm Any questions or comments would be gladly welcomed! Link to comment

z3speed4me
Totally been lacking in updating my sad excuse for a build thread.... Here is how we look today: Sorry that the colors are hard to capture on iPhone without blowing out Blue, I plan on pulling out the good camera one day eventually. FTS FYI I am moving the star polyps to an isolated rock on the sandbed later as I don't want them to take over the world... Link to comment
Newstead
Looks fabulous! Good idea about the GSP, I love it, but it has its own island of safety. Link to comment
z3speed4me
I need to get this guy off his base and onto the rock later, going to try and snip as close to the bottom as possible. That one side branch may become a separate frag. Link to comment
