RedSkaNite
My wife got me a test kit (ammonia, nitrite, # nitrate) for my birthday yesterday. I did the tests and got Ammonia: undetectable, Nitrite: Almost nil, & Nitrate: Undetectable. I guess this is pretty good. Should I do a water change to drop the nitrite levels? How often should I test these parameters? I also got a spicific gravity tester, the kind that has a plastic swinging arm. It says you need to season it for 24 hours, so I did. It is still floating to the top whenever i use it. I know I don't have a salinity of over 1.30! Anyone have any advice on how to use this thingy? Link to comment
JSinger884
What company makes your hydrometer? Also, how long has the tank been set up for?????? Link to comment
reefitis
could be just air bubbles in the hydrometer by water going in too fast. try leveling it on a flat surface after its filled, tapping it to dislodge air bubbles... "...also, how long has the tank been set up for???..." Link to comment
RedSkaNite
Yep, it was the bubbles, I dislodged them, and the salinity dropped to 1.25. My tank has been set up 2 weeks, but all the stuff is from an established tank. Link to comment
