Simulated Fish

Hey guys I picked up a couple new frags for my birthday today and on one of the rocks this little guy hiched in! I know most crabs are frowned on but anyone able to make a positive I'd?

Red mithrax crab(pretty sure)...the red variety of emerald crab. Usually considered "reef safe". Some have been known to eat softies but generally they dont unless very hungry.

Look up ruby mithrax crab and see if it matches.

Whatever he is, he's very cool looking!

Thanks, I'm a firm believer in letting hitchhikers live untell I can id or see negitive behaviour.

I definitely think it's some type of gorilla crab. Most hitchhikers turn out to be reef safe and of course can always be removed if needed. I've always found crabs to be great members of the clean up crew. Although I did have a red hermit that loved to eat acans so always be vigilant.

I thought that as a possible I'd but no black tips at all on the little guy. :/
