NewbietoNanos
Hey there, I have a 14g biocube and already have a YW goby and an ocellaris clown. I eventually would like to get a third fish. I have been looking into a cherub angel, royal gramma, or firefish. I could get a free firefish from my dad's tank (there are several other fish in there and it just stays hidden in the rocks-the gigantic bully of a blue tang might be the cause! ) I am afraid the royal gramma will just hide all the time. Since my goby is pretty still I would like to get another semi-active fish or at least one that will be out and about and not hide. The cherub angel I am afraid will cause issues over the long run with corals and size. Any other suggestions?? Thanks! Link to comment
Sal10104
i had a firefish a while ago he was one of my fav fish in my 95 they aren't active like a tang but they are just stunning for a 15$ fish i really didn't see much aggression in him they are great for nano tanks, if you don't like them all that much look into getting another clown even look into a black and white one from live aquaria's ORA facility for 25$ but yeah those are the 2 fish i would get but its more of a preference if you want coral i wouldn't get the angel i have had bad luck with dwarf angelfish being coral biters good luck Link to comment
NewbietoNanos
The firefish in my town are $40! However, that was a purple one. The one in my dads tank is a red. Both are really cool! That's what I'll probably end up doing. Just didn't know if there were any other fish that I hadn't heard of yet for my size tank. Also: like I said before, the firefish in my dad's tank has been in there for a few years now and we only see him at feeding time. There is a big blue tang, lemon peel, flame angel, coral beauty, and clown that scare him into hiding all the time. If I did transfer him into my small tank would he still forever hide? Or maybe he would realize the bullies were gone and be normal. Food for thought! Link to comment
Idaho ken
Fire Fish are a good choice, also, other gobbies.....hi-fin, Rainsford's, I haven't seen them fight unless they look like each other. Royal G's once they are comfortable, will swim around. But, free is always better lol! Link to comment

Food for thought! i bet its scared about all the fighting your dads tank must be massive to house 3 dwarf angels without endless fighting, and yes i was talking about the red firefish from live aquaria the purple ones usually cost about 40 good luck Link to comment
niQo
I've got an Allen damsel, it's a beautiful blue colored fish that's pretty active. He also holds his own well with my clown fish an YWG. Would recommend it for sure! Link to comment
Xenia2
Swales swissguard basslets are good too Link to comment
Pancetta
I had a Firefish in my Biocube 14g. It was very shy and was prone to hiding in a cave. Really was annoying. Currently have two fish. A Pigmy Angel and a Starry Blenny. The get along fine. The blenny is a little aggressive so a I have been considering a Allen's Damsel. Link to comment
Pancetta
You might consider a Basslet. My LFS has them and say they are easy to keep in a small tank. Link to comment
NewbietoNanos
Pancetta, do you have any corals? If so, how does the pygmy angel do with them? I love the cherub but I have heard good and bad about them. Link to comment
Pancetta
Yes, I have softies, a montipora and two rock flower anemones (RFAs). He does not nip the corals but sometimes nips the RFAs when I feed them. Basically he tries to steal their food. Never nips them other than feeding time. My LFS where I bought the Pygmy said they will not usually nip corals if they are well fed and I have found this to be true. Link to comment
