Darkside Posted August 7, 2004 Share Posted August 7, 2004 I am pretty sure this is a Vermetid gastropod, its a snail that catches things with the "strings" with is a mucus trap. They are harmless. But you should atch it because I may be wrong. Link to comment
jtsam Posted August 18, 2004 Author Share Posted August 18, 2004 hey tanks for the reply. atch it? what do you mean? hm, thats pretty crazy. the only anoying thing is that sometimes the strings get everywhere. i was just going to rip him off the rock but he is in a hard shell, kinda crazy, he sticks his little head out and it has these tiny antenna. whenever i get close he retreats into the shell, i'll try to get a pic with the antenna out. i suppose i could just chisel it off. Mine has doubled in size in about 6 months since I started my nano, but he seems to be harmless, and the "stringy" stuff that he releases actually catches debris from your water column and eats it-- sort of a filter feeder. Sounds good (albeit somewhat gross to watch) to me Link to comment
