-muse- Posted January 22, 2016 Share Posted January 22, 2016 I would say it is bowing because it looks like you only have 6 vertical 1x4s supporting bulk of the weight. The plywood on the side is not taking a lot of the weight either. You may need to bulk up the supports even though it may make it clunkier or run the 1x supports all the way to the floor similar to this. Link to comment
WibblyPig Posted January 22, 2016 Share Posted January 22, 2016 You could get a piece of 3/4"plywood and glue and screw it inside the stand between the 1x4s. That will effectively turn it into 1-1/4" plywood in that area which will prevent any bowing. Caulk and fill the screw holes, another coat of white paint and you'll never notice it. However, as said before, I'd still put on a face frame - even if it's just 1x2s. Half lap and dowel the corners and glue and nail it to the front and it will be solid. Link to comment
