mushroom coral splitting or dying?

I had a mushroom just like this that died a long time ago. When it died it got super small. This seems very healthy other than the obvious. Curious to see what a more experienced mushroom keeper might think.

Mesenterial filaments, as already stated, its guts :P they usually expel them when they're stressed. Just wait it out for a day or two and it should go back to normal. If your tank's really small, maybe run a bit of carbon during that time as well.

Shrooms also naturally grow new babies via pedal laceration or by growing new mouths and dividing like a cell. I don't believe expelling mesenterial filaments is a precursor to either but I do hope you get some babies from that thing ..so I can get one from you.. ;)
