Murphs_Reef
So I have been losing my trumpet coral steadily for a week now, on closer inspection I have noticed a purple mat, sponge growing over it, I can't see it over the dead heads however. The polyps seem to melt over the course of a day, seemingly healthy the day before. I have attached an image but it's not great quality. Look at the lower right hand side at the base (it's jammed into place with some base rock btw) Link to comment

ndrobey
Put super glue all over the purple thing. Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Put super glue all over the purple thing. There is loads of it, maybe take out and frag the 2 polyps not yet touched? Link to comment
ndrobey
Yes, that will work. But you still need to get rid of that purple stuff before it destroys something else. In the picture, there are two trumpet polyps at the bottom of the colony that are possibly salvageable, if you put super glue around them to get rid of the purple stuff. Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Turned the coral around to see the sponge, what do you think? Link to comment
Murphs_Reef
Just noticed it's got white worm like extensions from the sponge.. Do I need to rip the full frag out? What is this sponge?? Link to comment
ndrobey
Yeah, I definitely see that purple thing climbing up the coral reaching a polyp. Take the colony out of the tank, put super glue everywhere except on the polyps. Cover that purple thing completely with super glue. Then put the colony back in the tank. Link to comment

Thanks, I hope it's not clung on to any other rocks, I move it to the front to get it under the lights Link to comment
