I was planing on buying the DrsFostersmith.com PC sprecial... 2x40W. I would like to replace the bulbs b/c they are not 10000k or actinic. Hellolights.com has these bulbs http://www.hellolights.com/clear55daycf.html

for sale for like $9.00 at 36w. Would these work, they say they are a faint color compared to 10,000k with a little actinic.

I have a Drs. Foster & Smith 2x40W Power Compact Fluorescent Fixture and I want to change the bulbs as well. So I had sent an email to them and this was one of the customer service reps reply:

Thank you for your inquiry. We apologize, but we do not currently have replacement bulbs in the Drs. Foster and Smith brand. You can however use different brands of bulbs in this fixture. For example, you would be able to use the Coralife brand of bulbs, located online at http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...cfm?pcatid=8069

The referring webpage displays bulbs but with a minimum of 55W. I sent a second email to confirm because I thought the rep misunderstood and another rep answered my question:

Thank you for your reply. We do currently recommend those bulbs to be used in the fixture because we do not have an exact match. We are working to supply the match for the fixture but you can currently use the bulbs that Angelo mentioned previously. Those bulbs do have the ability to handle a higher wattage but will still work ok in your fixture.

This is probably a dumb question, but if I stick a 55W bulb in a 40W fixture will the bulb be properly illuminated and won't something happen to the bulb/fixture since the rating on the bulb is greater than the maximum rating on the fixture?
