Its highly variable in that you have to wait for it to decompose (ammonia is a product of decomposition) and then who knows how much ammonia it's really releasing into your tank. On top of that it introduces bacteria you don't need which can foul your water. Pure ammonia is a cheap, proven, and extremely simple way to cycle an aquarium - and it's just as natural as adding a shrimp. Ammonia is a naturally occurring substance. Link to comment
iceshade Posted March 31, 2015 Author Share Posted March 31, 2015 So what would I look for ammonia wise here in canada? I've seen it at wal mart and Canadian tire. Also maybe I'm wrong but I think I see a tiny bit of hair algae coming on the rocks, just in a few spots. Link to comment
