aviator300
Oh what the heck. I figured i might as well jump on the bandwagon myself, So i ordered an IM 10 gal Fusion from Aqua Cave. They offered free shipping and it's still only suppose to take 3 days to get to AZ from IL. I'm impressed. I had been spending time trying to decide between an IM Nuvo 8 and a Cadlights mini 8 but just couldn't pass up the 99.00 Fusion any longer. I plan to make this a mixed reef with emphasis on RFA's. I'll be starting with a Coral Compulsion PAR 30 18K Vibrance which i already have and then upgrading to a NanoBox Mini Tide or an AL Prime at a later date. I'll be using a Hydor 50w heater with a Finnex controller and an MP10 for extra flow. The tank is suppose to be here Friday but in the meantime I have some basic dry Lacerock cycling in another tank. This rock has a smoother surface than i usually use and i decided to try it because it has unlimited attachment points for coral. I may supplement it with some small pieces of BRS Reef Saver rock just to give it more character. Link to comment
aviator300
OK, I'm into day 3 of the cycle. I started with a half bottle of Bio Spira and 10 drops of liquid Ammonia to give it a jump start. Yesterday (day 2), the Ammonia tested at 2.0 with no Nitrites but today (day 3) the Ammonia was zero but Nitrites were 2.0. My test kits (Salifert) are pretty reliable but how could dry rock (even with bacterial starter) clear 2.0 of Ammonia and convert it to 2.0 of Nitrites almost overnight? Moving right along, the tank should be here tomorrow (Friday) but I really hadn't anticipated getting it here this quick so i think i'll just let the cycle continue in the temporary tank and transfer to the Fusion 10 when it's cycled. Can anyone see any problems doing it this way? I'm also following the reviews of the new AI PRIME as they come in to help with my light choice. See everyone later. Link to comment
aviator300
Can anyone guess what this may be? It came this morning but i'll have to wait till later in the day to open it. Link to comment
WhiteWulfe
I'll take a guess at "a box the UPS conveyors didn't try to eat"? Link to comment

aviator300
lochness monster? Gotta love it.. Aqua Cave is the only vendor that i have received a tank from that labels it clearly "Glass Aquarium" and so the box it came in was spotless and dentless. Link to comment
teenyreef
Welcome to the club! I'm looking forward to seeing how you like the rock. I started my IM10 pretty much exactly the same way: couldn't pass up the deal and I already had a CC PAR30 18K bulb Link to comment

In my line of work I've been in both UPS and Fedex shipping facilities behind the scenes. I can assure you that the label is meaningless! Link to comment
