DurocShark
I use DropCams all over the place at work. They do great for security cameras. So I put one on my little 9g. I tried every possible angle, but clamped to the top rim pointing down at an angle into the tank, seems to be best. And best isn't very good. Here's a clip: It can't focus that close, and the colors are crap, and highlights are blown out, and... and... and... Is there a better choice out there for something similar? Link to comment
HecticDialectics
Most security cameras suck for image quality. Get a good $80 or 100 webcam and remote in or keep. Skype running Link to comment
Christopher Marks
It looks like the Dropcam lens is just too wide to work well. An HD webcam that you can point more parallel to the front of the tank should work better. It won't be as convenient to set up as Dropcam I imagine, but there must be some competing webcam services out there with similar features. Link to comment
DurocShark
I do have a Logitech c920 setting on my shelf waiting for me to do something with it. I may have to give it a go. I just wish it was wifi capable so I don't have to run a cord to my PC. Link to comment
blasterman
The AXIS cameras have better sensors, but cost more. Link to comment
DurocShark
So it looks better now. I think the issue was microbubbles. They fooled the camera into exposing differently: Here's a clip from this morning. I did change the angle to get more in focus. Link to comment
