louy99
inspired by Scorched and his amazing nano tank i too have decided to jump in to the Mr Aqua 12L club. i have been out of the hobby for almost 2 yrs and have been itching to get back in. my wife has been asking me to build her a built-in storage area in our kids playroom and so i had an idea to incorporate the tank into that. did a quick sketch and she approved i should have plenty of room underneath for sump/reactors and other stuff i havent decided on. ill be making my purchases soon and starting this journey equipment list: Mr Aqua 12L 20L sump syncra sicce 3.5 return pump current usa orbit marine pro LED light tunze nano ATO Pukani dry rock Link to comment

louy99
i have done some more work on the system, painted the stand, finished the sump, plumbed everything up and water tested. no leaks and ready to cycle...i put in Dr Tims One and Only Bacteria and petco gave me a free damsel fish to cycle. now before someone gets mad, it was a free fish because it is missing a back and right fin and eyeball...it was being picked on and was going to die anyways i made covers for the pipes and still need to finish making the cabinet doors, trim and finish painting. lots to do still....my current usa orbit marine pro will be here tomorrow and ill add sand to the tank this weekend. holy carp
Luis, did you cut down the length of your 1" bulkheads? Also, did you have to put check valves on the 1/2" returns to prevent back siphoning? Link to comment

Also, did you have to put check valves on the 1/2" returns to prevent back siphoning? I did use a hacksaw to cut the bulkhead shorter then I sanded down the inside of bulkhead so I can slip the pvc street 90 bend further in. I didn't bother with a check valve because my sump won't overflow but I did put a ball valve just under where the 1/2 returns spit. I will close that valve for water changes so no excess water drains. ooo I like that light! You'll have to keep us updated on the light. Very cool I sure will, there are no reviews on this new light yet, I plan on making a YouTube video about it this wek Link to comment
