metal halide for 18g via aqua?

For those who have this tank , i would appreciate a recommendation regarding whether to use a 175w or 250w ? Will be using a pendant. I currently have soft and LPS corals but would like to keep a few sps/ and a clam in the future. I am concerned about "overdoing it" with the 250. ( Heat ?) Since there's so little difference in price, I thought perhaps the 250 would be better in the long run?? Thanks in advance.

I currently have a 150W DE overmine with a Derasa Clam at the bottom of the tank. I have mine hanging about a foot over the tank do to heat. (Disclaimer: Clam seems to be doing fine but don't know if current set-up is good enough for long term yet)

 

I think there is somebody that fit a 175W retrofit into their hood.

 

The 250 would be better in the long run if you might even think about going bigger
