ruckuss Posted January 30, 2015 Share Posted January 30, 2015 I got an anemone from the LFS. They told me it was a Sebae. I have had him about 2 weeks now.. doesn't want to stick anywhere. used to move around.. now just sits in the back corner.. Is he OK? Link to comment
Amphiprion1 Posted February 2, 2015 Share Posted February 2, 2015 That is a long tentacle anemone, Macrodactyla doreensis, and it looks to be in rather poor shape. This species needs a deep sand bed to properly settle. They will have their column completely buried in the sand--the fact that yours is still sitting on top is not good, especially if it has remained like that for more than a few days. This specimen is also bleached, which isn't necessarily fatal, but makes it that much harder for the animal to make a rebound. If it is still alive, the first focus should be on providing the proper habitat and necessary stimulus that it provides. If you don't have deep sand, I suggest a ring of wide-diameter pvc or something similar to essentially fill with sand in a spot on your existing sand bed. Make a shallow depression and gently place the anemone into it. Link to comment
