iadubber
Over my Holiday break I decided to change over my Fluval Spec V to a reef tank. Previously it had been a home for a Betta that I moved into a planted 20 long now. I plan to make this into a zoa only tank. iadubber
The scape looks great! Thanks! The left rock is three rocks epoxied together with WaterWeld. Link to comment
Eckozulu
Love the rockscape. I would forget the skimmer on this one and just get a good media basket from intank with the surface skimmer. Also, the IM spin stream worked better for me, instead of the hydor flow. Link to comment
DrVENKMAN
I agree with Eckozulu, don't bother with a skimmer, just run a small amount of carbon and if you ever have issues with algea run a little GFO with the carbon-new Marco rocks often leach phosphates for a few months. Link to comment
iadubber
ordered the inTank media basket and surface skimmer as well as the MJ606 from intank. Link to comment
iadubber
Installed Hydor Flo, MiniJet 606, Current Orbit LED, surface skimmer, and inTank media basket last night. I'll probably run just filter floss in the media basket for now. I have some purigen on the way in case I will need it. Otherwise I'm going to try and fit my heater in the bottom chamber of the basket. Now just waiting for the cycle. Link to comment

iadubber
The left rock looks insane! Looking forward to this build! Thanks! On a side note, I like the Current Orbit LED, except for one glaring issue. That damn backlight on the ramp timer pro is always on whether the light is on or not. It's very annoying especially when I don't have anywhere to hide the control module. I wish the backlight only came on when a remote button was pressed or maybe a switch on the ramp timer to turn off or dim it. Link to comment

I hated that when I had my orbit.. especially because my tank was in my room.. I used to put a strip of duct tape over it to black it out because when it was set, I didn't really need to control it again. Link to comment
iadubber
I need a new pic up with the current LED light. There's just nothing happening besides the cycle at this point though Link to comment
iadubber
I absolutely hate the sand in this tank. I'm planning on going bare bottom and starting the siphoning of sand next water change. Also not really as in love with this tank anymore. I might start planning to move to an IM 10 for a little more livestock flexibility and I really don't like the Current light. Link to comment
TheNordCelt
Now that my tank is filling in, I'm leaning toward taking out the sand myself. Its not really doing anything but collecting detritus. Link to comment

Its not really doing anything but collecting detritus. I've got about 5 more water changes to get the rest out by siphoning. I can't seem to get a whole lot out the way I'm doing it now.
