ghostgr
What size does everyone use for a qt/hospital tank? Do they need to be cycled? What equipment is run with them? Anything going into it would be in a 29g biocube. Link to comment

lkoechle
You can run a qt with an HOB and PVC for the fish to hide in. Just stay on top of your water parameters, don't overfeed, stuff like that. Only a few folks keep a QT running full time. The rest of us put them up when we need them and take them down when we're done. I personally like keeping an ammonia badge in the tank, so I can see a problem immediately, and running purigen to help water quality and then weekly water changes or as needed. EDIT: A note on running purigen or carbon in QT, if you dose a medication the carbon or purigen will pull it out. So if you are treating a fish, don't run this. Also, my equipment list for my QT: HOB filter, powerhead for more flow, purigen, ammonia badge, heater and PVC. My QT is either 20 gallons or 10 gallons depending on the size of the fish.
