nunofs
Hi I found what I believe to be a parasitic isopod on my live rock when setting up my new tank, but wanted confirmation before I get rid of it or throw it back into the tank. Here's a picture, it's right in the middle, head towards the lower left (you can see the eyes), tail towards the upper right (there's a bright red spot on the tail): Can you confirm if it's an isopod? Should I get rid of it? Thanks, Nuno Link to comment
nano-nemo
sure looks like one to me, how big is it? BTW, here is a link to help you identify it if you have doubts Link to comment

nunofs
It's pretty small, between 1/4 and 1/2 inch when extended, and less than 1/4 when curled up in a ball. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Link to comment
nunofs
Just for the sake of completeness, just got confirmation that the bug is a Sphaeromatid, a harmless isopod. Link to comment
Bun
Have you watched your sphaeromatid do its "business"? (Number 2)... it's hilarious... it lifts its' rear end up, and sends this little p00p pellet hurtling into the current... At least the big one in my tank does that... glad to hear it's not cirolanid, B Link to comment
