Does anybody want to recomend a light setting for my tank? I have a 120w chinese full spectrum exactly 1 foot from the surface. blues go from 0-100% and whites/red/lime go from 0-100%

Thanks.

*Sighs* I hope you like it.

Lets see it

I have no glue so all my mushies and zoas are in the sand. once glued it will be an open sandbed.

Is that all of the rock? You went from about 10 pieces to like 2...?

I hope you will be adding more and its just due to the lack of reef putty, rather than trying to go for a more elegant look.

You dont like the elegant simple look? I was actually keeping it like this.. lol......... give me your opinion on it bro.

Well, I think you will find that you want more room for coral placement, with more than one level in the water column for different light strength for your corals so you can get them all at the height that they like best. Now, don't get me wrong. I like the look of it now since its so natural. I could jump into the ocean and find miles and miles of seabed just like the above FTS you have, but its not a "reef" look and does not give you the versatility that you will need to make your corals look best unless you want to keep very few total and only the easiest growing ones. That might be your plan for all I know, but if you ever want to try something new I would add more rock.

Also, more rock is more filtration and beneficial bacteria in your tank. I am worried that the switch from lots of live rock to very little dry live rock might become a problem with natural filtration later on and you might see your levels swinging harder and pissing off your corals.

Just my 2 cents, I hope it helps though. B)

I agree with Da1001. Personally I think you could be going in the right direction. You've basically got 2 little rock islands going, I would elaborate on that.. Add a little of your live rock and build the left side up a bit higher and a piece or 2 on the left. To me, it just looks a little too simple now.

Great man, I hope it works out for you. I had nothing against your original scape, but if it had been me I would have tried to move that bottom middle rock just a bit farther back and tossed the front right rock that is really flat. That would have give you the nice arches look both from left to right but also from front to back as well. That seems to look the nicest in our reef tanks.
