ngericke
I have seen 50000k advertised as well and wondered the same I would think that it is an industrial bulb of some sort that somehow made its way into the reefn hobby but really isnt meant to be here But what the hell do I know Link to comment
Samc
Yeah, above 20,000k the PAR value drops off drastically-as much as half compared with a 6.5 or 10k bulb. The best of both is prbly a 13-14k bulb, but the bulb production technology at that level still has a way to go (few good bulbs produced=higher costs for us). Sam Link to comment
raven1969
50k is an iwasaki 150 watt bulb, and i have used them and they are great , i call them mini radiums, they are between 15-20k i would say, i have used them on nano reefs , and no actinic is needed, just like radiums, i also mix them up with 10k bulbs on larger tanks and they work great, i really like the color of those bulbs, why they call it 50k i dont know, but i would recomend them.
