seabass
If I don't do anything for a while now but then eventually I would want to add more bioload ... can it (nitrifying bacterias) then cope with the new bioloads? Will the beneficial bacterias multiply without presence of Ammonia? or am I confused?Just because your test kit is telling you that it can't detect ammonia, doesn't mean that the life that you have in your tank isn't producing any. It is simply processed very quickly. The bacteria can handle the existing import of ammonia, plus a little more. So adding livestock slowly allows the bacteria populations time to grow in order to process the new bio-load. However, if you add too much livestock too quickly, it is possible to overwhelm the existing population and your tank will experience an ammonia spike (until the populations have time to adjust).
