tapsmith
Okay, so I know these pictures really suck. But I'm still learning how to do closeups with really really small subjects. So the best I can tell, these things move like shrimp. They are very tiny, and are kind of shaped like a shrimp. Any ideas. By the way, the occupants of this tank are Dwarf Seahorses that I have to hatch my own brine shirmp. I had prior to getting these SH's, two peppermint shrimp in this tank, but I never seen either one pregnant. The Peppermints were moved out approximately 3 weeks ago. Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advanced. Link to comment

kc5qvz
I don't know but it looks like good food for the seahorses to me or am I off base here? Link to comment
tapsmith
I saw one yesterday when I fed the tank, but today I see all the rest of them. To feed the tank I have to turn the filter off, because Sea Horses are very lazy and want the food to come to them, they won't hunt there food. So I really only see them while the filters off. And as you can see it the picture, they are all at the top of the water/tank. The sea horses WILL NOT swim to the top to feed. Link to comment
xien2000corp
all of them are baby mysid shrimp. very healthy setup you have if those are alive and running around. your seahorses will love you forever now! -steve Link to comment
reef hugger
They are adult mysis. Only a smaller species of them. I have a sump full of them, that are no longer than 3/8". Definitly a good sign for the dwarves, the shrimp breed like rabbits. Link to comment
Dolfan0925
could be baby seahorses...friend of mine had some seahorses that had babies. Dunno how they turned out, if any made it or not. No news is bad news I guess. He took pics. http://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread...0397#post820397 I dunno if that's what it could be...dunno what your seahorses look like. Link to comment
tapsmith
Thanks everyone for your input. I know for a fact that they are not baby seahorses. I keep a tight watch on them and the males have not been pregnant yet. As far as them being mysis shrimp, I would have to see what they look like to know. Does anyone have pictures of what mysis shrimp look like? I went out and bought a magnifying glass so that I could better see these guys with. It's hard to get a good camera shot of them because they are so small and moving. Thanks again everyone. Link to comment
Sushi
http://royal.okanagan.bc.ca/kokanee/kids/mysis.htm http://www.sd5.k12.mt.us/peterson/project/mysis.htm http://www.flymartonline.com/article109.html try those links out... they do somewhat look like the thing in your pictures... good luck, i have a bunch of these running around the glass at night in my tank too but they're very tiny... about half a millimeter in length *also, what's cool is, my perc sucks these guys up for a midnight snack, it's pretty fun to watch since he just gulps water where there are a small group of these and they're all gone! they reproduce way too fast for him to eat all of it though. and like i said, these guys swarm my glass at night, it's kinda sick... like tiny fleas everywhere Link to comment
