theishkid
We're thinking about picking up an RO/DI system from BRS but our house has a water softener. How will this affect the RO/DI system? Do we need to install the unit before the water softener or is it okay to do it after? Link to comment
Alexraptor
Installing it before would be rather pointless, as by the time the water leaves the DI unit 99.9% of the minerals in the water will ideally have been removed. Link to comment
theishkid
So you're saying it's better to let the water run through the softener first, then go to the RO/DI? Link to comment
AZDesertRat
ALWAYS use softened water if you have it available to you. RO membranes love soft wate rsince it does much of the work for them and will last many times longer because of it. Most if not all membrane manufacturers recomend softened water and none will honor a warranty claim of soft water was not used. Link to comment
